Dear all,
Lasso Phyaphulla
One of the main aims for Tamang Society of UK is to give back to our own country and provide opportunities to those that are less fortunate than us.
From the initiation of our first scholarship program for children in
remote and underprivileged areas in Nepal, we have had another
successful year with the generous support of our members.
This year
altogether, 41 children were awarded scholarships from Shree Samaj
Bikash Basic School in Sindhupalchowk and Baiteshwor Secondary School in
Dolakha. These scholarships have been kindly provided by individual
members where the children will not only receive scholarships for this
year but until the completion of class 12 and even higher.
It was
wonderful to see the how delighted the children were when they received
their books, bags, clothes and shoes. From just one year ago to now,
there was a visible happier demeanour of all the children and staff in
the school. The Head Teacher mentioned there was a vast improvement in
the children’s attendance and grades.
Following on from the aims
of Tamang Society of UK to provide less fortunate children with this
opportunity to learn and provide them with this encouragement to have a
better future has really been reflected through the spark in attitude of
the students who feel motivated and look brighter than before.
The
unconditional love and continued support our members have given to
these children and the society cannot be expressed enough.
On behalf of myself and my executive team, I would like to give a very big thank you to all our kind-hearted and generous members who have supported this noble cause.
A huge thank you also to Binod Yonzon for organising this visit to both Nepal schools and to Nepal Tamang Kalakar Sangh (Bhai Sanjeev Waiba, Prem Lopchen jojo, Subash Moktan and Ashman Lopchen bhai) for being so supportive and making our journey very memorable and fruitful.
“We strongly believe more members will join us to support many more schools throughout underprivileged areas in Nepal”.
May blessings be with you all.
