Dear all members,
First of all, I would like to wish you and your family a very happy Sonam Lochhar (2855 phak lho). May this year bring you all great fortune, good health and be filled with compassion and success.
I would like to thank everyone that could attend and celebrate Sonam Lochhar with us on Saturday 9th February 2019 at Samuel Cody Sports College, Farnborough. Prior to this event (Friday 8th February 2019), a special Puja at the BCCUK Gumba was carried out by Lama guru Prem aseng and lama gurus from BCCUK for the prosperity and well-being of all our members and communities.
We were so fortunate to receive blessings and wang on the day of our Sonam Lochhar event from our Lama Guru Prem Lama and Lopenla serub funchok. I would like to give special thanks to our esteemed Lama gurus and all our members whom attended and contributed chho (Prasad) and delicacies for the Puja. It was a such special day celebrating our culture and I hope you all had a wonderful time embracing it.
Music and dance is a vital part of our beautiful culture so, I would like to give my sincerest thanks to our guest artist Subash Moktan from Nepal, Achal Lama, UB mongresa and all our local artists for your talented and superb performances. This event would not have been possible without our executive team, sponsors and volunteers so to you all, thank you so much for your enthusiasm and selfless support.
Thank you to our Nepalese Ambassador Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi and all of our distinguished guests for celebrating Sonam Lochhar with us and making it even more special. In addition, I would like to applaud all those individuals awarded for their outstanding achievements. Congratulations!
Following on from our registration as a charity, the initiation of our first ever scholarship project has had a promising start. Currently, 32 generous members have contributed towards the scholarships for children in Khale, Shindhupalchowk. Here, 21 children of Shree Samaj Bikash Basic School have been awarded with a scholarship provided by individual members.
These scholarships are aimed towards disabled and underprivileged children in the some of the most deprived areas in Nepal. With your contributions, these children will receive the education they deserve and the basic necessities needed in their day-to-day lives.
Finally, I would like to congratulate us all on such a successful event and give my dearest thank you and appreciation to each and every member of our society for your continuous dedication and support. I would like to give a warm welcome to all our new members whom registered during the event.
As always, may we continue to work as a team and build a stronger relationship, I wish you all a very auspicious Sonam Lochhar 2855.
